Wokha, December 30 (MExN): Commissioner Secretary to the Government of Nagaland Y Kikheto Sema paid a ‘surprise visit’ to the District Hospital, Wokha on December 30.

The purpose of his visit was to review the preparedness status of the 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) which is going to be virtually inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Nagaland on January 6, 2023, informed a DIPR report.

As per the report, Sema is said to have interacted with the Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Thungbemo Patton, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Wokha Dr Zuben Kikon and doctors; stating that the Chief Minister and the Health Minister are of the view that all districts should have functional 10-bed ICUs by January 2023.

In this connection, the Commissioner Secretary also inspected the PSA Oxygen Plant as well as the transformer and generator, which were recently installed.

The DIPR report stated that after the review, Sema raised four main issues on the status of the equipment, and was informed that PSA oxygen plant, transformer and generator were all non-functional and the Jio Fiber connection for internet connectivity is also yet to be done because of some technical problem.

The Commissioner Secretary is said to have made calls to the concerned department officials, directing them to look into the matter at the earliest possible time and to ensure that all the non-functional equipments are restored at the earliest. He also reminded the officials at the directorate that such pending works should be taken up on priority not only in Wokha district but also in other districts.

While lauding the doctors and nurses for working even on holidays, he encouraged them to continue the good work and serve the people. Sema also urged them to create awareness and let the public know that Wokha district will have a functional ICU by January 7, 2023.

He also urged the people to have the feeling of belonging and sense of responsibility and love the hospital property as their own, the DIPR report stated.

Deputy CMO, Wokha, Dr Zuben Kikon while appreciating the Commissioner Secretary for the concern and for visiting the hospital, assured to give their best in order to serve the people and also stated that the ICU will be made functional with the little resources available.
